Raising new-born piglets is an important part of the pig farm. In addition to the use of advanced pig raising equipment, we need to master relevant technical knowledge. Generally, the death of new-born piglets is caused by the following aspects: 1. Crushing; 2. Freezing; 3. Starvation due to lack of colostrum; 4. Hypoglycemia; so we need to take corresponding measures against these aspects.
1. Heat preservation and pressure protection
The subcutaneous fat of newborn piglets (especially the weak piglets) is very thin, and their resistance to cold is poor. If we don't take corresponding heat preservation measures in time, these piglets are easy to freeze to death. In addition, the weak piglets are small in weight, poor in physical strength, not flexible in action, and easily crushed to death by sows. Therefore, we should especially strengthen the care of individual weak piglets in the production practice. To prevent being crushed to death by sows.
2. Fix the nipple and eat enough colostrum
It is recommended to collect Colostrum (50-60ml, no more than 5ml per nipple) during sow delivery. Before feeding, each weak piglet should take 5-10ml to enhance the physical strength of the weak piglet. When nursing newborn piglets, we should strive to make the weak piglets eat the nipples in front of the sows. In addition, in order to enhance the competitiveness of the weak piglets and reduce stress, for some weak piglets, we can not cut teeth temporarily and keep tail.
3. Strengthen heart and replenish fluid
25% glucose 10ml, camphor 2ml, penicillin 150000 units, streptomycin 100000 units or Qingda 40000 units, mixed intraperitoneal injection, twice a day for two consecutive days, when intraperitoneal injection, attention should be paid to the following: a. the needle should be vertical to the abdomen of piglets, B. the injection site and needle should be strictly sterilized with 5% tincture of iodine or 75% alcohol, preferably one pig and one needle.
4. Cross foster care
The weak piglets of piglets produced in the same period (the interval between piglets is no more than 3 days) were selected (at least 6 times of colostrum) to be centralized, and a sow with better lactation performance was selected for raising.
